Behind the Vision: I’MMORTAL – Uncanny Valley (Das Mörtal Mix)
Shot in Our Studios
We’re proud to have hosted the production of I’MMORTAL – Uncanny Valley (Das Mörtal Mix): My Eyes Are Down Here Buddy in our studios, a project that merges body-horror, performance art, and cultural critique. Co-directors I’MMORTAL and Danis Zhang crafted a visceral experience that confronts the male gaze and its impact on censorship of the feminine body.
The video explores the tension between internal empowerment—felt through pole dance and burlesque—and the distorted external perception filtered through male-dominated algorithms. By contrasting raw sensuality with objectification, the work exposes how the male gaze can flatten identity, turning self-expression into something policed, censored, or demonized.
Supported by the New York Foundation for the Arts through the NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music, and Theater, the project united a powerhouse team of directors, dancers, designers, and technicians. We’re honored our studios could serve as the creative space where this bold, thought-provoking piece came to life.
