Moxy Hotel // Video Project

Director Coco and Julian Muller came together recently to shoot a wonderful video piece at our sound stages for Moxy Hotels. The behind the scenes photos have been overwhelming gorgeous and color oriented. Moxy had quite the crew come together to make this amazing shoot happen, ranging from celebrity makeup artist Romero Jennings (@romerojennings) who created some  magical looks on model/musican Alix Brown, to Adin Walker's dynamic choreography and movement. The video will be dropping in a few short weeks and we can't wait to show you it!

Damn Joan // School Shootings Video

We recently had Damn Joan with Gay Against Guns in our studios shooting a video about the recent and prominent issue of gun violence in our school's across America. 

"In partnership with Gays Against Guns and our graceful director Sara Nell McDowell, you helped create a moving piece that brings forth the alarming prevalence of school gun violence in this country, while also holding space for those who have lost their lives to it on this this powerful day -- April 20th, 2018. 

This was made in honor of the 19th anniversary of Columbine and in action with today's National School Walkout, just 64 days after Parkland. " - Lauren Teng & The Damn Joan Family

Glam Shoot // Winky Lux

Recently,  Winky Lux, the indie beauty brand based out of the Lower East Side, here in NYC, had their second shoot in our studios with photographer Matt Coch. They had a furry pal to help market their new launch of the 'Kitten Palette.' We had a quick chat with the creative director, Kate Fernandez about the magic that went in to bringing this campaign to life. 

1. What was the direction or end goal you had for this project?

Kate: Introducing the Kitten Palette - super luxe, super fabulous, super pink. 

2. What was your favorite part of the production?

Kate: Definitely our cat model Dahlia -- the cat had to listen to classical music to get in the zone!

3. Go to equipment or camera for this project?

Kate: Matt shoots with a Canon 1DS. We used the lighting available to us from the studio as well as a pink seamless you had available.

Azaelia Banks // Complex Media

Azealia Banks

As is tradition, when a new year comes, new resolutions do too. Many resolutions have to do with working out more or eating healthier, all of which in turn help with one's overall mental health. With these thoughts in mind we wanted to highlight a recent project shot by Complex Media at our stages. The video is an eight minute introspective on the world-renowned recording artist Azealia Banks. The piece goes into detail about the limelight that sometimes prevents superstars like herself from being seen as a ‘real person’. This limelight places stars like her in a place where fans may forget that these artists also go through the same day to day struggles as us, as well as some different ones that fans may not be aware of at all. Due to the constant microscope on their daily affairs and pressure to be perfect, as well as constantly pushing out new, riveting work, the burden on these artists is very real. Azealia and the video itself come across as very raw, as you see wide shots of our NYC studio space and the equipment used, while the artist goes into harsh detail about her hardships to find proactive ways to push her mental health forward in a positive way. Her music comes across as very strong and happy, but as stated, she is nothing more than a flawed human like the rest of us. We absolutely love this piece and the new perspective it sheds on not only her life but a lot of entertainment industry big shots lives’. 

In summation, Azealia states “Every day is a difficult time, I’m Azealia Banks.” Thank you to Complex Media for choosing our film production studio, and a big thank you to Azealia for being so honest with the public about such a sensitive subject. We hope each and everyone of you is able to conquer your 2018 resolutions for a better outlook and overall life.

Kamal Ahmed // "The Martyr Maker"

NYC based actor/director, Kamal Ahmed and and his crew stopped into our video production studio for a few hours to wrap up some final shots for his new feature, "The Martyr Maker". Cinematographer Scott Cramer took advantage of our rental studio's handsome exterior along with basically every corner inside of our space while using only a very minimal lighting set up.. They basically used every area aside from the actual cyclorama wall. The talent ranged from age 9 to 65, creating a different sort of dynamic then we tend to see at our photography studio on a day to day basis.

Iris Media Works

Iris Media Works transformed our studio into a massive set that felt just like home for their commercial for a new independent insurance company. Not sure how they managed to pull off such an intricate build in only a day, but it certainly made for some beautiful shots. Check it out here.

Barkbox in the House

Be Electric - We had the joy of hosting Barkbox and their team of furry friends to shoot their promotional campaign. Barkbox is an online service for dog owners that delivers a box of goodies including special treats, toys and care each month based on different themes. Not only did the team have to direct the actors through each scene, but the k-9 talent as well. We've never seen such a well behaved cast.

Tru Tv // On set with Victor Cruz

A couple of weeks back, Tru TV came in to shoot a hilarious commercial starring NY Giants very own wide receiver, Victor Cruz and his new line of clothing. This parody loosely based on the Old Navy ads we used to see in the early 00's will be featured on Rachel Dratch's (SNL) comedy show, Late Night Snack.

Paper Mag // Kat Von D

More Than Meets The Eye

Paper Magazine teamed up with Kat Von D to highlight seven women who are making waves in todays pop culture and challenging the ideas surrounding beauty and success. Hair and Makeup featuring Kat Von D's new tattoo liner each applying with her own flare. Check out the inspirational video below and follow the link to the full interview. Video was produced by Extra Extra Creative and features Baddie Winkle, Beverly Johnson, Susanne Bartsch, Carmen Carrera, Dai Burger, Chantel Jeffries, and Kennedy Grace.

Bright Light Bright Light Music Video

Earlier this year, Bright Light Bright Light shot several music videos as well as the album artwork for his latest album Choreography. Rod Thomas, the face of BLBL, is a Welsh singer/songwriter delivering vibrant synthpop dance hits such as All In The Name featuring vocals by Elton John. Converse Shoots Greenscreen

Converse was on set this week shooting some pretty elaborate tabletop shots in front of a greenscreen cyclorama. To promote some new winter footwear coming out next season, they used dry ice and a fake snow machine to simulate weather conditions and modified the lighting to simulate the street in New York they filmed in the week before. An excellent use of our beautiful greenscreen stage

Back 2 Blonde TV Spot

Case Agency partenered up with Everpro and Beth Klein Productions to film this vibrant commercial for Back 2 Blonde root concealer.

It's a Big Hit!! Mihwa Kim - K-Pop Music Video

Hoon Entertainment Inc just released the music video they produced for Korean pop singer Mihwa Kim titled "It's a Big Hit." We had a small crew and about 15-20 dancers in the studio for the day shooting various combinations of choreography. Pretty cool what you can do with some simple lighting and a nice white cyc. They had so much content they made a few versions of the video, check them out below.

Drive-In Music Video

Street level access means more than just a super efficient load-in and load-out. You can drive right onto our Cyc and use the car as a prop. Recently Eleven 7 Music was in the studio shooting a music video for one of their artists new singles set for release next month. The crew brought in a Dodge Challenger which was already pretty cool. Throw in some dancing, a projector, and some fast music and this video was looking pretty hot.

Proclamation Punctuation: A Fashion Film

Sewra Kidane saw her creative vision come to life this week at Be Electric. Her latest project Proclamation Punctiation is sure to make waves. Bold, elegant, and powerful, Ayo Jackson was perfectly cast. Everything from the lighting to the outfits to the props were all crafted specifically for this film and they all complement each other perfectly. Shot on our in-house RED Epic Dragon.

brooklyn soundstage - If you made it to Barclay's Center last weekend for Maxwell's Valentines Day concert, you might recognize these dancers. Filmmakers Kristjan Thorgeirsson and Matthew Mendelson were in the studio shooting this beautiful choreography which would be projected as a backdrop at the show. The dancers, Annellyse Munroe and Lloyd Boyd, had great chemistry and were just incredible to watch. Urban Outfitters+Legs Media+Milk Makeup+Samantha Urbani

Shot entirely on our stage, in collaboration with Legs Media, Urban Outfitters and Milk Makeup, pop singer Samantha Urbani co-directed the music video to her latest single 'U Know I Know' alongside Georgie Greville. Shot at Be The video follows Urbani through a dreamlike set as she goes about her morning routine with the help of some eccentric characters, vibrant costumes, and groovy dance moves. Despite production being interrupted by a blizzard, the video was shot in one weekend.

Mizuno Wave Video Release

To Wave Or Not To Wave...

After an incredible amount of post-production, Mizuno Running North America has finally posted the commercial shot entirely on our greenscreen stage. It's hard to believe the entire thing was shot indoors and in one place! The animation in here is astounding, we're so impressed with what they did, and so happy they filmed it here with us.
